If you are a football lover, you’ll probably know this star. “The Lion.”
So, I recently watched a football match where I fell in love with someone; his name is “Zlatan Ibrahimovic.” It happened like magic; there was something about this player I couldn’t hold together.
After the game, I couldn’t help but conduct my research on him. In a blink, I opened my browser and typed his name on google, the results rolled out and I started to read about him. Interestingly, my love for him grew even more. Immediately, I opened my YouTube application and typed his name on the search button. The videos ranged from his life experiences, interviews, football games, success tips, etc. I watched more videos of him until I decided to log out of YouTube. At this point, nobody can talk me out of this love; I love Zlatan with every strength in me (lol).
What’s the Zlatan way? This blogpost summarizes a few wise words from Zlatan and how you can imbibe them in your daily life whether as an undergraduate, graduate, entrepreneur or whatever you are.
The Zlatan way is confident. I watched a video where Zlatan explained his personality. He’s always misunderstood to be arrogant and proud, however, he’s just who he is- confident. He’s confident in his skills and goes for whatever he wants. He calls himself a lion and proudly says “Lions don’t compare themselves to humans.” In another interview, he tells the interviewer “When I get on the pitch, I become a lion.”
A lion is confident and isn’t afraid of its prey. What are you? Find your identity because if you don’t, you may never make sense out of life.
The Zlatan way learns from mistakes. Zlatan made a statement that I resonate so much with. He said, “I make mistakes and I learn from them and I remake mistakes and learn from them.” Nobody is above mistake, it’s only wise to learn from your mistakes. Never allow the fear of making mistakes keep you from trying new things and making the most of our life.
The Zlatan way embraces learning. Even as a recognized player, Zlatan still learns about his game. He’s open to learning and trying new things. Regardless of what you, embrace learning because that’s one way to stay relevant in your field. Nobody knows it all.
The Zlatan way is unusual. Have you ever been told that you are the odd one? For Zlatan, he believes that one way to stand out from the crowd is to be unusual. If you know him, he’s a very unusual guy and his home country (Sweden) recognizes and respects him.
Just a tip, don’t be usual in a bad way. Let it be positive.
Lastly, the Zlatan way isn’t defined by background. When I read about the background of Zlatan, I can conclude that people who are from poor backgrounds can choose to become successful. Zlatan comes from a very poor background; his mother was a cleaner and his father was a drunkard who didn’t have a great job. However, Zlatan discovered his passion for football during this hard time and chose to pursue his dreams of becoming a footballer. Today, he isn’t defined by his poor background because he chose to become successful. You can read more about him on Wikipedia.
Don’t you love the Zlatan way? What can you embrace from this?
See you in my next post.
